Maxx Mobiles in Android Race Review India

In the recent times, we have seen a lot of Indian players in the mobile market and some devices are really giving even the big players a tough time. Also the operating system android gave these companies a great operating system to couple with their hardware. Brands like Micromax and Karbonn are able to sell their devices in good numbers.

Maxx mobiles is another such brand which started small as an accessories manufacturer and is now gaining well in the Indian mobile market. Now they have got a decent lineup catering to a wide range of audience. We have been browsing through their website and came across some pretty good devices. We skipped most of them and focused on the devices running android only. Then we filtered among them by looking at the spec sheet and then found some devices which we found worth mention here.

AX8 Note II Android

This phone is a 5 inch device and the specifications are somewhat similar to the Micromax device A110 canvas 2. It runs a dual core processor at 1 GHz on a MediaTek MT6577 chipset. The phone supports dual SIM feature and the SIM1 supports 3G network at 2100 MHz. The phone has got 512 MB of RAM to go with rest of the hardware. We have recently seen a lot of similar spec-ed phones from many manufacturers.

The device is a bit on heavy side weighing over 200 gms and it would make handling the device a bit tough as the dimensions are already huge. The phone’s display, a 5inch one displays 480 x 800 pixel which is kind of less for a device this size. You will be able to spot pixels and even the smallest of fonts would be too large. You won’t be able to use the large display for any good because of the low resolution.

The camera is an 8 megapixel snapper and it can record video at VGA resolution. Most devices having a camera of this resolution record videos at semi HD at least. But we are not very sure it will be able to handle high definition videos at high FPS. The device runs ICS out of the box and is priced at 10K. Decent buy if large display is your priority.

AX5 Android

Another nice device we found here was a single core one based on MediaTek MT6515 chipset and the processor runs at 1 GHz processor. This is a device for people who don’t need much from their phone and they expect their phone to handle only the basic jobs. The phone has got a 4.2 inches display showing 480 x 854 resolution. We love this size as it makes the device easy to handle and keeps the weight low. The device is slim at just 8.6 mm thick but lacks the support for 3g network which was a disappointment. You do get Wi-Fi though if you need fast internet.

The camera on the device is a 5 megapixel one with a LED flash and the secondary camera is a 1.3 megapixel. But without 3g you won’t be left with much option for the front camera. The battery on the device is just 1300 mAh and we are not really sure if it would be able to do very well.

AX9Z Race

This one is a relatively new device launched a while back only. The device is a considerable improvement over the previous device and the processor on this device runs at 1.2 GHz clock speed. The phone is still heavy at over 200 gms and here the device dimensions go up even further due to the 5.3 inch display. The good bit however is the improved resolution. Instead of WVGA, the resolution is qHD. Not much of a drastic change but still, a little improvement won’t hurt.

The camera on the device is 8 megapixels like on few other Maxx devices and here too you get only VGA video recording. The camera gets the usual basic features like touch focus and auto focus. The camera didn’t bring any surprises to the table. The device won’t be any better to handle coz of the dimension but you get the Jelly Bean 4.1.1 on this device. The OS is considerably smoother as compared to the older ice cream sandwich. The battery is 2300 mAh and it sounds pretty big on paper but the large display would be a huge drain on the battery. Ignoring the minor flaws, it is one device you might consider but the site states the price around 16K which is asking too much for what it has to offer.

AX8 Android

This is one device which we personally liked the most. The device runs almost the same hardware as few other phones. Having a 1GHz dual-core processors along with a MediaTek chipset with 512MB RAM. The good bit here is the display. It has got a 4.5 inch display which shows a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. It turns out to be a pixel density of around 235-240 pixels per inch which is a healthy number. You won’t be able to spot pixels even in smaller font and the workspace available would be pretty good.

AX8 with Android operating system for Maxx India

The phone can support micro SD card upto 32 GB. The camera on this phone, like the previous device, is an 8 megapixel snapper with a LED flash to help with the low light shots. The front facing camera is stated to be a 2 megapixel one which is more than enough to serve the purpose it is meant for. The battery on this device is 1850 mAh which is okay considering the size of display and other hardware of the device. This one seems to be a good buy for a bit over 11K and if I have to pick a device among these, it would be the one.
