The World’s most esteemed company, Apple, has finally released the next Generation of its best selling tablet yesterday (ie. March 7th 2012) and named it as “The New iPad.” Many are surprised that the successor of the most popular iPad2 is named just iPad instead of iPad3 or iPad HD (according to expectations).
In the last update (Apple iPad 3 Launch), we only had the rumors about the specifications of the new ipad. Now lets take a look at the actual specifications of the Apple’s new ipad.
“The New iPad” Specifications:
- Measures 241.2 x 185.7 x 9.4 mm
- Weighs over 600g
- 9.7 inches touchscreen
- Retina Display
- 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution (equals over 3.1 million pixels, million more than your HDTV experience)
- Quad core A5X graphics chip
- 4x increased performance than the previous ipad
- 5 Megapixels iSight Camera with autofocus and face detection
- Secondary Camera (VGA)
- HD video recording (1080p)
- Built-in Image Stabilization
- 9.4mm thick
- 4G LTE connectivity with a whooping speed of upto 72mbps
- Battery backup claimed to be 10 hours

16GB: $499 (WiFi version) and $629 (WiFi+4G version)
32GB: $599 (WiFi version) and $729 (WiFi+4G version)
64GB: $699 (WiFi version) and $829 (WiFi+4G version)
The pre-booking of this new ipad has already started. You can pre-book yours from Apple’s official website. Actual shipping is said to start from 16th March.

I really like its features but don’t think that the name of this iDevice is suitable ! iPad 3 or iPad HD would have been great 😀 !

I love the new Ipad 3. It looks more appealing and has a great spec. I love it! If I have some money I will surely buy this and replace my ipad 2.

It’ll be available in selected countries on 16th March (doesn’t include INDIA). From 23rd March its available in rest of the countries

iPad 3 (or the new iPad) has done an excellent job by incorporating 5MP camera. But, I’m still not considering buying this model as there isn’t enough improvement compared to iPad 2.

The name just has to change! If they were to go ahead with calling it “The New iPad”, then what would be the next one called? “The Newer New iPad”?? Come on Apple, you’re so innovative and to think of a better name for your product shouldn’t be that hard right? 🙂

Not worth the hassle. Seriously, why would I go for the New iPad. There are not enough goodies to upgrade my iPad 2 to this new iPad from Apple 🙁

Apple is notorious for releasing new versions of items..that are more like a .1 update changing 2 things. lol. great marketing tactic, because people still eat this crap up.
Get a brain people, stop buying these wimpy updated devices and they will actually make worthwhile GOOD upgrades!

The New iPad launched is good news for iPad seekers who require iPad with latest features. 4G feature is most attractive specification of new iPad. As you say, I think about name of new iPad, it will be more suitable if name will be iPad 3 or iPad HD.

Why oh why did they not include Siri???? Dictation is cool and useful, but Siri would have been killer. Hoping that someday with Siri moves out of Beta or it’s called Siri 2.0, it does finally debut on the iPad. It’d be a shame if it only stayed on the iPhone product line.

I have Ipad2 and I am not convinced with new Ipad as there is no Major change as I was expecting. so I believe its waste of money to switch from Ipad2 to new Ipad.
Hope its next release will be a big blast.
