Facebook Denies Having Been a Victim of Cyber Attack

Important social networks including Facebook, Instagram and Tinder, broke down last night for a little less than an hour. The collective of hackers Lizard Squad hinted that he was responsible for the disturbance.

The cause of the suspension of these various services, which occurred around 1:15 EST (7:15 CET) worldwide, is apparently related to a failure of the Facebook servers. This failure would then have contaminated a set of web services that use the authentication system of the important social network.

“We acted quickly to resolve the problem, and both services are back to 100% for everyone.”

At the time of the attacks distributed denial of service (DDoS or type) targeting this service seem to be increased, Facebook has reassured the media denying being the victim of such an operation.

“Earlier in the evening, many people have struggled to access Facebook and Instagram. This disturbance was not caused by the attack of a third party, but rather caused after the introduction of a change that has affected our configuration systems, “said the company in a release.

Recall that the headquarters of Facebook in Menlo Park is located in California. The failure of fifty minutes is technically produced evening, around 10:15 p.m. PST.

“We acted quickly to resolve the problem, and both services are back to 100% for everyone.”

Note that among service Facebook disturbed that night, the instant messaging application WhatsApp is itself remained functional. If Facebook formally denies having been the target of any cyber attack, the collective of hackers Lizard Squad claims to the contrary, be responsible for the offline social network.

For its part, Lizard Squad – which in all likelihood is the author of a similar cyber attack that disrupted online services from Microsoft and Sony there a few weeks ago – might want to take advantage of circumstances to convince users of its power typing.
