Turn Off Monitor: Save Power

Do you know that you save money and power when you turn off the monitor ? Keeping the monitor on during period of inactivity results in increased bills. This tute explains how to turn off the monitor automatically after a certain period of inactivity, thereby saving money and power.

Turn off Monitor

  • Click Start, select Control Panel and then click on Performance and Maintenance.

  • Now click on Power options

  • Power options properties window opens
  • Under the power schemes tab, locate the drop down beside “Turn off monitor”
  • Select the time after which you want your monitor to be turned off automatically. (after 10min works fine)

  • Click Apply and then OK

That’s it, you’ve saved some money and power too…

    I only have a desktop which I assembled to form my gaming rig on a budget. Although I often turn my monitor off manually, this tip of yours is useful when you accidentally leave your station for and forgot to turn off your monitor.
