What you need to know about the mobile repeater

One of the few things that people who live in distant areas and those who live in modern concrete jungle have in common is such troubles with cell phone connection as missed and dropped calls, low reception quality and background noises while talking on the cell phone. In country areas low reception quality is usually caused by remote location from mobile base station while big cities residents suffer from constant dropped calls and poor audibility because of shadow effect of wireless transmission and shielding effect of the buildings. But even though the reasons for bad connection are different, the solution is the same – cell phone amplifier.

How cell phone amplifiers work
Cell phone amplifier, or as it also called mobile booster or mobile repeater, is a device that is developed specifically for solving all kinds of problems with cell phone connection. It intensifies the signal coming from the mobile base station to the phone and vice versa. Websites like MyAmplifiers.com offer a wide range of boosters for different purposes: for using in small and big houses and cars; for amplifying cell phone, 3G or Wi-Fi signal. Mobile repeaters can cover a territory up to 1200 m2, so you can use it pretty much anywhere you like: in a small house, in your office and even in the parking lot, the place where usually cell phones don’t work because the signal can’t reach through the ground. Purchasing mobile repeater you can be sure that you won’t need any additional equipment for installation of the device as it comes in a complete package. Standard repeater set includes following items:

  • Outdoor antenna (including 10 meters standard cable)
  • Indoor omni antenna
  • 5 meters standard cable
  • Power supply (DC 10v)
  • User’s manual
  • Mobile repeater

If while using your mobile repeater you’ll happen to need some additional accessories like a longer cable or a splitter or a new antenna you can always order it on the website in “Accessories” section. Important note: if there is no such necessity it’s better not to experiment with the length of the cable because the best quality of the reception is guaranteed only if you use standard length. And before we dive into more technical characteristics of these devices, here’s what you need to know about how phone boosters work:

How cell phone amplifiers work

Once you installed the outdoor antenna (we’ll take about this process a bit later), it receives the signal from the local mobile base station and sends the signal to the mobile repeater through the coax cable. As soon as the repeater receives the low signal it amplifies it and sends strong and stable signal to the inside antenna installed inside your house, and that’s pretty much it: from now on you can forget about dropped calls. Read here if you want to know more about how mobile amplifiers work. One of the greatest advantages of mobile repeaters provided by MyAmplifiers.com is that they are wireless, so you don’t have to attach any additional wires to your phone if you want to make a call. And the best part is that not only one person can use mobile amplifier, but everyone who is in the coverage zone can enjoy stable signal.

If you are worried that cell phone amplifier won’t work for your mobile operator, there are repeaters for 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz frequencies, meaning that wherever you live you will be able to find mobile repeater for you.
Another important question that is worth discussing is coverage zones of mobile repeaters. Once you check out the website you’ll be shocked to find out how many options are there in this department. Literally anyone will be able to find the device that suits their needs the best. The owner of a small studio will probably choose AnyTone AT 400, because it covers up to 80 m2, which is more than enough for amplifying the signal in small cozy apartment; those who live in middle-sized houses or want to get better connection quality in the office can set their choice on AnyTone AT 600, as it covers up to 300 m2; and even those who need to boost cell phone signal in a huge facility will find what they need – AnyTone AT 800 mobile repeater; that device though relatively small in size (325x145x83 mm) and weights 6.5 kg can cover up to 1200 m2!

One of the most amazing qualities of these mobile repeaters is that they can work pretty much everywhere! They don’t need any special conditions in regards of climate or humidity which is so important for people who live in an unstable climate. Their working temperature is from -25 to+55 C and humidity range is 5-95%. Said repeaters work on power supply (220V or 110V). The weight of mobile repeaters vary from 2 kg to 12,5 kg depending on the model. To the list of the advantages of mobile amplifier you can also add its easy installation. You don’t need to have any special tech skills; you just should follow the instructions provided in the manual. To install the amplifier you should put the outdoor antenna on the roof and point it in the direction of the nearest mobile base station. Then set up the repeater and put the indoor antenna inside the house at least 5 m away from the outdoor antenna. And that’s the whole process, so, as you see, it’s not difficult at all.

If you are still not sure about whether you need mobile amplifier or not, here is another advantage of this device that hasn’t been mentioned yet – mobile amplifier is able to reduce the amount of radiation your cell phone emits. How does it do it exactly, you may ask? Well, as you may or may not know, cell phone emits the most radiation while connecting to mobile base stations, so when you are in a room where signal is low you are constantly exposed to a higher level of radiation from your phone. But with mobile repeater your phone won’t have to search for signal all the time therefore it will emit less radiation. For those of you who have questions regardless mobile repeaters and those who are interested in purchasing one, we recommend checking FAQ section; there you will find all the answers to your questions and recommendations on choosing mobile repeater.

When a gsm booster delivers the signal from an outdoor antenna it transfers it to the cellphone amplifier which redirects it to the phone. Thank you for this wonderful and helpful blog post.
