Windows 7 USB Installation Media

Not all the time, you can rely on Windows hard drive to keep installation media, it may be damaging, or there are chances you just being lazy never think about it. Even, in older system you do not have option to have a recovery drive. It is a good idea to create USB for installation media, which is quite handy to take anywhere . Following instructions are for only Windows 7.

Installing Windows 7 from USB boot guide

Whenever, you download Windows form internet you two options, one is download compress files of Windows 7, second, download installation files into a single uncompressed file. If you have decided to download ISO file to create a bootable disc from USB flash drive, copy these file of Windows 7 on your media, run Windows 7 USB Download tool.

Once you have downloaded ISO file, copy into USB flash drive, when you are ready to install, insert flash drive in USB port, and run Setup.exe from the root folder.

Advantage – it does not depend on boot order in your system. It allows to you install Windows 7 without having run existing operating system.

Note – when you copy Windows into USB, make another copy of it in DVD or any other media. Windows 7 license term allows you to make on copy of software as a backup of reinstallation. If you will not delete one copy of Windows 7, it will consider as back up copy of Windows. In any case, you need to download software again, go to Microsoft account Store, then Download Purchase History.

Installation

Follow instructions to install Windows from USB flash drive.

Requirements – You must be an administrator to run Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool. It also requires Microsoft .Net Framework version 2.0 or above.

  1. Click Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool
  2. Choose Run, when prompted to save file or run
  3. Follow steps, you will also have option to specify where to install Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool

System Requirements

  • At least Pentium 233MH processor or above
  • 500MB free storage on disk
  • 4GB removable USB Flash Drive
  • Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista, Windows 7

For Windows XP users

Windows XP users must have Microsoft .Net Framework installed, if not, then download from Microsoft website. Moreover, Microsoft Image Mastering API v2 must be installed. It can also download from Microsoft website.

How to make Copy of Windows ISO file

  1. Click Start button, type Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool
  2. Run program
  3. In Source File box, type name and path of ISO file or browse
  4. Select USB device to create copy of USB Flash drive

In this way, you can also create a DVD installation media.

    Great alternative to obviate the need of installation the media via hard drive. USB comes handy and can be used anytime, anywhere.
