3 Reasons Why the Kindle is the New Library

People love reading books. But carrying them around is not much fun. As a book lover, I feel the same way. I’ve been reading ever since I learned how to read. As a kid my grandmother would read me a story before I’d go to bed every night. Thus began my love affair with literature. One reason why I love reading is because it expands the mind. It widens your horizon and gives you a new perspective on things. It’s become a habit of mine to bring a book wherever I go – especially when I’m travelling. Plane rides can be boring and reading gives me something to do. The thing is I only bring one book. More than one would be too bulky since I always travel light. But after I finish my book – there’s nothing else to do anymore! That’s why you can only imagine my delight when I discovered the Amazon Kindle.

Here are 3 reasons why the kindle is now considered the new library.

First of all, the Kindle 3 now has a 3GB memory. According to users this can hold up to 5000 books without crashing. Imagine owning this number of books! In paperback, you would need an entire library to store them. But with a kindle all you need is a couple of inches of storage space. Kindle 3 is only 1/3 of an inch thick. It’s practically thinner than a magazine. And it only weighs 8.7 ounces. For book lovers, a Kindle is a definite must-have. Not only will you be able to have access to thousands of books you’ll also get to carry it around easily.

Second, the Kindle’s screen is set to appear just like a regular paperback. It basically has a black text on white background appearance with no backlight. Unlike Ipad’s where you can’t read outdoors because of the reflection, Kindle’s can be brought anywhere. So you can read wherever you want: On the beach, in your backyard or at your patio. This makes for a great reading experience because now you can read an ebook without having to suffer from eye strain – like the one you get as a result from the glare of your laptop screen. One drawback is that like a paperback you can’t read it at night without lights.

Third, the Kindle has a text-to-speech and font resize feature. This means that if you are nearsighted then you can easily increase the font size to a size that you are comfortable with. You can also read in landscape if you wish. And if you get tired of reading then you can activate the text-to-speech feature and listen to the book. With the Amazon Kindle your reading experience can’t get much easier than this!
