Facebook (Meta) is considered to be one of the largest social media platforms, with more than 2.45 billion active users, monthly. This social media giant offers its users several security options & privacy controls.

Out of the many features that Facebook offers its users, the ability to block others users, is a crucial one. What happens when you block someone on Facebook?

When you block someone on Facebook, it prevents them from viewing your content and even contacting you. However, in order to protect the privacy of its users,  Facebook does not notify other users, when they are restricted or blocked.

Therefore, in this article, I am going to discuss a few indicators following which you will be able to figure out, whether you have been blocked or not. You have to keep scrolling to find the answer to the question, ‘How to know if someone has block you on Facebook?’

How To Know If  Someone Has Blocked You On Facebook?

The primary purpose of social media is to interact with & meet other people, from different parts of the world. Sometimes, more often than not, you or someone else might get ‘blocked’ by some other user.

Almost every user on Facebook, has access to this specific feature and has the liberty to utilize it, for literally anything. However, the good part is that, Facebook does not notify you when someone blocks you or removes you from their friend list.

Blocked V/S Unfriended

Before we discuss about, ‘How to know if someone has block you on Facebook?’ It is important that we understand the difference between getting unfriended and blocked.

The primary difference being- when someone unfriends you on Facebook, there is still room for you to see their profile, comments on any mutual pages, & any public content, they share. There is even an option for you to send them a friend request, again.

However, when someone blocks you on Facebook, you will lose all access to their profile, posts, comments, updates, and all sorts of interactions. Under no circumstance will you be able to contact them.

Further simplifying it, when someone blocks you that very person becomes non-existent for you, on the social media platform.

Although, there are a few signs that will help you find out whether you have been blocked or not. The following are:

1. That Person Won’t Be Available On Your Friend List

In order to check whether the person is there on your friend list, you have to follow a few steps:

  1. You have to log in to your Facebook (Meta) account or profile.
  2. Now, click on the ‘Friends’ option, located on the left side of the page.
  3. You will be directed to your ‘Friends List’.
  4. After that, click on the ‘All Friends’ option.
  5. Now, type in the name of your friend, on the search bar.
  6. There are chances of them not showing up, if they have blocked you.

2. You Will Not Be Able To Invite Them To Groups Or Events

Another way to confirm, whether someone has blocked you or not is to try to invite them to an event. Or simply to be a part of some community/group. In order to do this, you have to first create a Facebook event, & then attempt to invite that particular friend.

If no results pop up on the search bar, despite the name being correctly spelled out. There is a possibility that, that person has blocked or restricted you from their social media handle.

3.  You Will Not Be Able To Tag Them On Posts

Trying to tag the suspected individual on a Facebook post is another effective way to find out, whether you have been blocked or not. It is a rather lucid process,

  1. All you have to do is start drafting a Facebook post.
  2. Now, attempt to tag the culprit.
  3. If their name does not pop up while tagging them, it’s clear.
  4. They have blocked you.

4. You Will Not Be Able To Find Them On The Search Bar

Usually, Facebook offers its users with feature, using which they can locate anyone in the world. What you can do is, try ‘searching’ for the person on Facebook. Type out the name of that respective person in the search bar option, located at the top of the page.

However, this can be an effective way only when you know that the other person’s profile is still a functioning one. It is just you, who does not get to see posts about them on your feed or receive messages- stating the unavailability of the content.

It is a direct indicator that the desired person has blocked you from their account.

5. You Will No Longer Be Able To See Their Posts On Your Facebook Feed

Start scrolling through your Facebook feed. If you do not see their posts, there is a possibility that you have been blocked or unfriended, by that particular user. Note, this ‘research & development’ option is only available to the active Facebook users.

It can be an inconclusive process, because Facebook’s algorithms sometimes don’t show posts of users who are not regularly active or not engaged with- on Facebook. They might still be on your friend list, but could have set their privacy settings, debarring you from viewing their content.

6. You Will  Not Be Able To See Their Facebook Profile Page

It is the easiest possible option, if you have a URL link, that will direct you to your friend’s profile. You can try resorting to that option.  If you get notified that the ‘content is unavailable’, there are chances that you have been blocked.
