1. Char Minar
The signature architectural marvel of the city offers a wonderful sight. Char Minar is located in Hyderabad’s old city and is surrounded by the Mecca Masjid. It was built by Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah in 1591 to commemorate the founding of Hyderabad. The Minar has 4 minarets each measuring 50ft in height along with 45 prayer areas.
2. Salar Jung Museum
Salar Jung Museum is located in the old Hyderabad city on the southern bank of Musi River. It is in proximity to Charminar, State Central Library and the Mecca Masjid. The museum has a vast collection of paintings, manuscripts, ceramics and textiles. All the collection can be traced back to the Salar Jung family that ruled the state for two centuries. Salar Jung has a total of 38 galleries spread across three buildings. The vast collection of artifacts includes the growth of human civilization from as early as 2nd Century BC to 20th century AD.
3. Golconda Fort
The Golconda Fort located approximately 11 Km west of Hyderabad was constructed during 1600’s. The name has been derived from a Telugu word meaning Shepherd Hill and houses a huge city within the fortress that had armory, mosques and reservoirs among others.
4. Ramoji Film city
The brainchild of the famous film producer Mr. Ramoji Rao. Ramoji film city was recognized as the world’s largest film studio by Guinness Book of World Records two decades ago. The film city has an area that is spread across 2,000 acres and includes a multi-cuisine restaurant, shopping venues, kids and a bird park.
5. Mecca Masjid
Also known as Makkah Masjid, one of the oldest mosques in Hyderabad and also one of the largest mosques in India. It is in the list of heritage buildings in the old city of Hyderabad and located near Char Minar, and Chowmahalla Palace. This mosque was constructed using the soil from Mecca.
