Apple iPhone 5S with Super HD Display to be released in June 2013

Several informational sources currently report that Apple will deviate from their annual release cycle next year. Apple plans to release the next iPhone already in June 2013. The usual annual release cycle of previous years was always around September. This information is given by BGR News, citing a report by analyst Peter Misk of Jefferies & Company in which these investors have been informed about current economical developments. Since the first iPhone in 2007, Apple annually released a new model of its smartphone. This development and release cycle is being shortened next year, Misk said. This year, in 2012 Apple just recently released the Apple iPhone 5 three months ago as the successor of the iPhone 4S.Release date of Apple's iPhone 5S in June 2013

Super HD Display

This information is being discussed currently in several forums and the annual rumors regarding features of the new iPhone 5S are spread all over the Internet. With this, Misk claims to have even some more details about the upcoming iPhone generation. One of these details is that the device should be equipped with a so-called “Super HD” display. However, the question is what is meant by a Super HD display. Is it an increase in resolution or a bigger and sharper screen size? Probably both.

Why a new display?

Even now the pixel density of the retina display is already that high, that the human eye cannot identify single pixels anymore from a normal distance. Any further increase, like this is the case with some competing products using 1080p displays, will not bring virtually sharper images than the current high resolution retina display already does. Instead, it will only mean higher power and energy consumption which is a disadvantage for the battery life time.

Battery Life

The best innovation for any new smartphone would be better batteries instead, if you ask me (personal opinion of the author). Here, Misk also mentioned an improved battery which should increase the up-time and overall battery life of the new iPhone 5S. Let’s see what we’ll get here finally.

NFC Chip Integration

Furthermore, Apple is now also integrating an NFC chip into the iPhone. This was already expected for the current iPhone 5, but has been postponed while considering the lag of available applications using this chip in practice.

Different Color Versions

In addition to this, Apple recovered from the previous issues on producing the white color version of their iPhone. Apple plans to introduce new colors beside of the black and white version of their smartphone. Instead of these two, the iPhone 5S is expected to be colorful and available in 8 different colors.
