Panasonic Lumix TZ40 Review

The new Panasonic TZ flagship, the Lumix TZ40 is Panasonic’s latest model from the category of the so called travel zoom cameras. The Lumix TZ40, which is available as ZS30 model number in North America is a stable and reliable digital camera and uses the already known 20x zoom optical range, which is also found in previous Lumix model of last year.

Features

The digital 20x super-zoom (24-480 mm) and 18 megapixels sensor provide the core specification of this professional digital camera. Last year model had 4 megapixels less. Panasonic also attaches the Lumix TZ-40 with improved noise reduction feature, touchscreen with doubled resolution of 920k dot pixels. It shoots pictures between 40 – 60 frames per second, configurable in settings. GPS and the Russian GLONASS positioning system are supported. Connectivity is given by built-in Wifi with NFC support.

Haptic and Ergonomics

Its solid metal construction makes it a rare camera. In times where manufacturers often choose to use plastic materials for their products, the Lumix TZ40 makes the difference. The solid metal haptic provides an intuitive ergonomic and structure to fit best in user’s hands.

We will hopefully have the chance soon to test Panasonic’s new Lumix model intensively. As the TZ40 is a super-zoom travel camera, the focus is clearly defined on travelers and adventures to capture great moments on camera.
