Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. iPhone 4S

The latest releases on mobile phones have got the consumers asking: Which one is the best? Two of the phones that have proven to be the standouts are Samsung’s Galaxy SIII and Apple’s iPhone 4S. so which of them is better than the other? Read on and take your pick (although you are bound to find the other to obviously have the upper hand in all the comparisons than the other).

Screen Size

The difference is very apparent, putting the iPhone and the Galaxy side by side. iPhone boasts of retina display but comparing it with the GSIII’s high resolution display on a 4.8-inch screen makes Samsung’s flagship the winner. People today are more into phones with bigger screens and Apple is yet to grant these wishes.

Weight

The iPhone is smaller with less hardware inside it and yet it weighs more. The GSIII has outdone itself in coming up with a smartphone that is light despite the bigger number of hardware that it houses. Samsung’s phone also allows you to remove the battery, allowing you to use third party batteries for added power. Its removable storage through its SD card slot is also something that gives it the edge over Apple’s offering.

Camera

When megapixels is the aspect being talked about, there is no doubt that the iPhone 4s wins hands down. However, further looking at their features, you might find that Samsung has some amazing camera attributes that is not found in Apple’s product. The SGIII has the Burst Shot, capturing 3.3 images per second and then choosing the best picture for you. There is also the Zero Shutter lag feature for quick snaps as well as its ability to identify the people that are in a photo.

S-Voice vs. Siri

Samsung’s S-Voice is no doubt a lookalike of Apple’s Siri, highly apparent in its almost similar interface design. Both of these services generally work just fine, although, of course, it does have its own slip-ups once in a while. Both manufacturers are bound to be doing more work to improve their respective services so we should find out soon enough how their tweaks fare out.

Add-Ons

Samsung have been pioneers in coming up with new features that have become the standards for other manufacturers of smartphones. These frills include a Pop-Up Play, which allows you to watch a video and surf the web simultaneously; S-Beam, a combination of Wi-Fi and NFC sharing with other compatible devices; GLONASS support in its location system; Eye Detection, which allows the phone to turn off on its own; Bluetooth 4.0; and a barometer.

The Verdict

Looking at the comparison on the various aspects of the phone, the Samsung Galaxy S III is surely steps above the iPhone 4s. It is far lighter, thinner, and provides you with features that will give you more for your money. Count in its fluidity of operation, user experience, and feature set, and the SGIII seems to be years ahead of the now surprisingly profitable iPhone 4S.
