Aakash 2, a faster and upgraded version of Aakash tablet is likely to be launched in April 2012 without a price hike, Human Resources development Minister – Kapil Sibal said. He also added that Datawind is going to supply one lakh high speed tablets with better screen and a longer battery life.
The higher specifications in Aakash 2:
- 700 MHz Cortex A8 processor
- 3200mAH battery (3h usage time)
- Capacitive touchscreen
Other specs include
- Android OS 2.3
- 256MB RAM
- 2GB Internal memory/Expandable upto 32GB
- 3.5mm audio jack
- USB v2.0 (2 ports)
Earlier reports stated that Aakash 2 will be costlier due to the improved specifications but the HRD Minister – Kapil Sibal, has now confirmed that there will be no price hike in Aakash 2 (ie. Aakash 2 will be available at the same price).
The government will develop a plan for the distribution of the tablet once the production capacities are built up…

I am just waiting for this tablet. I have already registered for this tablet and this is good news that price will not hike so every student and other person can get benefit of this tablet without paying more amounts.
