A Resistive touch screen is a type of touch screen that is made of several layers where as a capacitive touch screen is a type of touch screen which consists of an insulator coated with a transparent conductor. Here let me take the opportunity to compare the pros and cons of both resistive touch screen and capacitive touch screen

I didnt that in touch screen there are two types even though I have a touch mobile. Both capacitors and resistors are almost the same price then i dont understand why capacitive touch screen in pricy.

Capacitive r much smooth and light to use. it takes quite less response time than resistive screens. best in touch screen fones for typing msgs. n moreovr u can prevent ur screen from scratches unlike in resistive wich requires pressure of ur nails. 🙂

The first balanced article I’ve seen on this subject. I have two phones, one of each. I will say the capacitive is smoother and more predictable than the resistive. However, I actually like my resistive better. It lets me respond to texts, e-mails, or fill and forms by simply writing with the stylus. I can sign my name on documents. I can have small fly-out menus like you have on your PC. I’m not stuck with 3/8″ squares for everything because it can’t use a stylus. I can also use my finger for the 3/8″ squares. I really don’t need a stylus for small things either because you can touch with your fingernail instead of your finger pad.

I prefer Capacitive touch screen as its very easy and fast in response, I mean the touch we do get registered easily when compared to Resistive screen. When it comes to Cons of Capacitive screen, It doesn’t matter.

Best example of resistive screen is Aakash Tablet! 😉 We always have a hard time with resistive screen. We have to literally hit the screen have to get a response.
