Apple Watch: More than time

Let’s start with the champions of surprise. No prize for guessing it correct because it’s apple. They are all ready to make Smartwatches a trend this year. The product is called Apple Watch. It’s a watch that is traditional in its form so that you can wear it in your wrist but if you go by content it’s amazingly different. It’s devised to give ready access to the consumer’s I phone and in addition to that it’ll keep a track on the  user’s health as well. It’ll measure your pulse which means you have got a 24X7 physician with you as long as you’ve got it tied to your wrist.  Apple Watch is one in its celebrated product line complemented by other products like Pebble e-ink watch and all of these watches are supported by Android Wear, Google’s version of an OS meant for devices that you can wear. With much hopes raised, it remains to be seen whether Apple Watch manages to make a mark in the realm of mainstream technology or it fails like its predecessor Microsoft Spot watch which appeared a decade ago. But undoubtedly it’ll be an interesting watch.

All the big shots of Silicon Valley have already got their own bites in the cake. Face book has acquired Oculus for a whopping $ 2 billion whereas Sony has already disclosed its idea of Project Morpheus, an exclusive VR Headset.  Samsung has put his best foot forward with Galaxy Gear VR viewer and Google has unmasked its Cardboard VR prototype. Amazon Devices: Variety is the new mantra

Diversity is the operative word for Amazon this year. In its insurmountable line up of e-readers Voyage is the new entrant to watch out for. With a shipment demand of 7.8 million e-readers in 2015 there is very little to worry for Amazon at present and despite getting complacent they are concentrating on the next bunch of devices which contains Fire Tablets, Echo Living Room Speaker and Devices for Television streaming. The not so famous Amazon Fire phone is also expected to get a major revamp in 2015.

Starbucks: New kid in the Tech Block

Drinking coffee experienced a paradigm shift with the incubation of Starbucks. From 2015 ordering coffee will never remain the same. 16 percent of all Starbucks transactions in US happen through mobile devices namely preloaded digital cards. This has encouraged the company to embrace mobile technology with more vigour. Starbucks have already launched a trailer of their mobile ordering system on a trial basis in Portland Oregon. It’ll soon be followed by a nationwide launch of the facilities. So be ready with your mobile phones as the days of scouting for a Starbucks shop are seemingly over.

T-Mobile: Under a buyout scanner

With more than 250 million consumers and a brand presence in 12 European countries T-Mobile is already a revered name in the world of mobile communication. Though it has successfully marked its position as the fourth in its category after Vodafone, Airtel and Telefonica what remains to be seen is how far it can stride alone in 2015. With a loss of 18% in share value T-Mobile has already been proposed for a takeover by firms like AT&T, Sprint, Softbank and Iliad. With a negative nod to every potent buyer till date, 2015 will be a challenging year for T-Mobile as Dish network and Telemex of Mexico are keeping a vigil eye on its movements.

Not only it suffers from bad reputation in countries like India and cities like Portland in US but also face stiff challenges from upcoming start ups like Lyft and Sidecar.
