Running out of storage is the classic problem of every phone gamer, and many popular games now need several hundred megabytes plus extra downloads. The good news: there are still excellent games that stay under 100 MB and work without an internet connection, which makes them perfect for flights, commutes and older phones with little free space.

We checked every game below in October 2026: all are still available and maintained, and all were under 100 MB. Several titles that used to appear on lists like this one (including Hill Climb Racing, Crossy Road, Cut the Rope and 1010!) have since grown well past 100 MB.

How we measured: sizes are the APK download sizes listed on Uptodown in October 2026. The installed size on your phone is usually larger, and updates can change it, so check the size shown in Google Play before you install.

1. Smash Hit (about 90 MB): best action game

Smash Hit by the Swedish studio Mediocre is a rail shooter with a twist: you glide through glass-filled corridors and throw metal balls to smash obstacles before you crash into them. Every hit costs balls, every smashed crystal earns new ones, and the soundtrack changes with each room. The free version is fully playable; an optional premium unlock adds checkpoints and extra modes.

2. Shadow Fighter (about 64 MB): best fighting game

Shadow Fighter from TOH Games is a side-scrolling fighting game with role-playing elements. You pick a hero, fight through waves of monsters and bosses, collect weapons and upgrade your skills. It plays fully offline and still receives regular updates. Note that recent versions need a fairly new Android version.

3. Ramboat 2 (about 96 MB): best run-and-gun game

Ramboat 2 by Viva Games is a fast arcade shooter in the style of classic run-and-gun games: you race across land and water, jump over obstacles and shoot enemy soldiers and vehicles. Weapons and vehicles can be upgraded between levels. At around 96 MB it only just makes the cut.

4. Escape Game: 50 Rooms 1 (about 79 MB): best escape-room game

In Escape Game: 50 Rooms 1 by BusColdApp you have to find hidden objects, combine clues and solve puzzles to get out of 50 increasingly tricky rooms. If you finish it, the series continues with further parts. Good for short sessions, and you can play it entirely offline.

5. Flow Free (about 38 MB): best relaxing puzzle

Flow Free by Big Duck Games is a simple idea done perfectly: connect dots of the same colour with pipes so that the whole board is filled and no pipes cross. There are thousands of free levels from tiny 5×5 boards to large grids, and no timer unless you want one.

6. Shattered Pixel Dungeon (about 30 MB): best role-playing game

Shattered Pixel Dungeon is a turn-based dungeon crawler in retro pixel style: every run generates a new dungeon, you choose one of several hero classes, and death means starting again – with a little more experience. It is open source, completely free, has no ads and no in-game purchases for gameplay, and offers dozens of hours of play for less than 30 MB.

7. Mindustry (about 75 MB): best strategy game

Mindustry combines factory building with tower defence: you mine resources, build conveyor belts and factories, and defend your base against waves of enemies. It has a full campaign, custom maps and a level editor. Like Shattered Pixel Dungeon, it is open source and free on Android.

8. Antimine (about 24 MB): best classic game

Antimine is a modern take on the classic Minesweeper, with several difficulty levels, custom board sizes, themes and statistics. It is the smallest game on this list and ideal for a quick break.

Tips: playing offline with little storage

• Check the Play Store size before installing: some games download extra content on first start and then take far more space than advertised.
• Start the game once while online: a few games load tutorials or level packs the first time. After that they run offline.
• Clear the cache instead of deleting: Settings → Apps → [game] → Storage → Clear cache frees space without losing your progress.
• Use Play Store “archiving”: recent Android versions can archive rarely used apps – the app data stays, the app itself is removed until you need it again.

Final words

You do not need a flagship phone or a permanent connection to have fun: the eight games above cover action, fighting, puzzles, strategy and role-playing in under 100 MB each. If storage is tight, start with Shattered Pixel Dungeon or Flow Free – they offer the most game for the fewest megabytes.
